If nothing else if you can see the disadvantage of the poor in the hat scenario (or perhaps a better example is the person with a relevant disability)then you should be able to see the disadvantage of gay people in regard to Church teaching.
As to your claim that you would wear a Hat in bed if God asked you to I am skeptical of that but only your own heart knows the truth there. It seems to me that many people are very selective in how they know with certainty what God teaches and what is open to interpretation. Maybe you would wear a hat if God said to but maybe you would also declare that verse time limited in its application should a hat be uncomfortable.
Tonyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07412650446530771853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4894764035439419656.post-37390725996210528982017-09-01T22:06:52.245-07:002017-09-01T22:06:52.245-07:00An interesting and fundamental question behind the...An interesting and fundamental question behind the issue of sexual morality or immorality, is who owns sex? Or maybe more generally, who owns our bodies?
The Christian view is that God does and God designed sex and has the right to give us boundaries of how it is to be expressed.
So if God told me I HAD to wear a hat during sex, I would be, though you bring up a good point that that requirement might disadvantage the poor. Not so with the Christian teaching that sex is only permissible within the home of male/female marriage. The only reason we think that is unreasonable is because we have been taught in our culture that not acting on our sexual desires is somehow a denial of our humanity. Christianity has something to say to that as well - grounding our humanity not in our ability to perform certain sex acts, but in our relationship with our Creator.
You may think it cruel or unfair, but it is very good news for the single person or the young person or the elderly.Simon Camillerihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14813561936965631699noreply@blogger.com
